Custom polishing machines designed for efficient deburring, rust removal, surface grinding, and polishing of metal castings. Available in centrifugal/rotary and vibratory configurations, offering reliable and consistent surface finishing for various industrial applications.

1. Types of Polishing Machines

Centrifugal or rotary barrel polishing machines are equipped with high-speed rotating impellers (blades). The impeller can throw the workpieces into the rotating barrel, enabling the cleaning process. This type of machine is suitable for removing rust, deburring, sandblasting, and other surface treatments for castings up to 150 kg. It can be used in various industries and will not damage the workpieces or cause collisions.

2. Working Principle of Vibratory Polishing Machines

Vibratory polishing machines use vibration and abrasive media to process workpieces. After the workpieces and abrasive media are added into the vibratory bowl, once the preset quantity is reached, the machine starts. When the bowl vibrates, the media and workpieces move together, and the abrasive media rapidly grinds and polishes the surface of the workpieces, resulting in a clean and smooth finish. It can be used for single-batch processing of castings up to 150 kg.

Types of Shot Blasting Machines

1. Tumble Type

Tumble-type shot blasting machines are equipped with high-speed rotating impellers. The impeller throws castings into the rotating barrel, where they are continuously tumbled for cleaning.

This type of equipment can be used for rust removal, sand removal, and other treatments of castings weighing up to 15 kg. It is suitable for various industries and helps prevent scratches and damage caused by collisions between castings.

2. Belt Type

When operating a belt-type shot blasting machine, the castings are first loaded into the belt drum. Once the preset quantity is reached, the machine starts operating.

As the belt drum rotates, the castings tumble together while the shot blasting device rapidly projects abrasive media onto their surfaces for cleaning. It can process individual castings weighing up to 150 kg.

3. Hook Type

The hook-type shot blasting machine is a standard machine model. The hoist, screw conveyor, dust collection system, and other components are started first. The workpieces to be blasted are then loaded onto the equipment.

After pressing the start button, the workpieces are transported along a predetermined track into the cleaning chamber, where surface cleaning is completed in a short time. It is suitable for surface treatment of various medium- and large-sized castings and forgings.

4. Continuous Hanger Type

Continuous hanger shot blasting machines are suitable for processing large batches of small- and medium-sized workpieces.

The workpieces are transported using hanging chains. During loading, unloading, and shot blasting, the workpieces can remain in a stable position, allowing precise loading, unloading, and blasting operations.

The typical lifting capacity ranges from 50 kg to 2,000 kg, providing high efficiency and reliable operation.

5. Rotary Table Type

Rotary table shot blasting machines use a transmission system to rotate the turntable. The abrasive media is transported to the lower section of the elevator and separated before being delivered through the shot pipe and other components to the shot blasting device.

The workpieces move in and out of the chamber together with the rotary table while the blasting wheel rotates at high speed, providing effective shot blasting treatment.

6. Floor Shot Blasting Machine

Floor shot blasting machines use electric power to drive the mechanical system, which projects abrasive media at high speed onto the workpiece surface.

The abrasive media creates an impact force on the surface. Inside the machine, the cleaning system collects and separates the abrasive media from dust and debris. The recovered abrasive media can be reused.

The shot blasting process also incorporates dust collection, making the equipment more environmentally friendly.

Working Principle of Shot Blasting Machines

The shot blasting wheel is the core component of the cleaning machine. Its main components include:

  • Impeller
  • Blades
  • Directional sleeve
  • Distribution wheel
  • Main shaft
  • Housing
  • Main shaft bearing seat
  • Motor

During high-speed rotation, the impeller generates centrifugal force and airflow. When the abrasive media enters through the shot inlet pipe, it is accelerated into the high-speed rotating distribution wheel.

Under centrifugal force, the abrasive media passes through the distribution wheel and directional sleeve opening and is continuously accelerated along the blades before being discharged.

The resulting stream of abrasive media impacts the workpiece surface, providing cleaning and surface strengthening.

Installation, Maintenance, Servicing and Disassembly

Shot Blasting Wheel Installation Steps

  1. Install the shot blasting wheel shaft and bearings onto the main bearing housing.
  2. Install the coupling plate onto the main shaft.
  3. Install the side guard plates and end guard plates onto the housing.
  4. Install the main bearing housing onto the shot blasting wheel housing and secure it with bolts.
  5. Install the impeller assembly onto the coupling plate and tighten it with bolts.
  6. Install the blades onto the impeller assembly.
  7. Install the distribution wheel onto the main shaft and secure it with a cap nut.
  8. Install the directional sleeve onto the shot blasting wheel housing and secure it with a pressure plate.
  9. Install the shot inlet pipe.

Installation Precautions

  1. The shot blasting wheel should be securely mounted to the chamber wall, with sealing rubber installed between the wheel and chamber.
  2. When installing the bearings, ensure that they are thoroughly cleaned. Do not contaminate the bearings with your hands.
  3. Fill the bearings with an appropriate amount of lubricating grease.
  4. During normal operation, the bearing temperature rise should not exceed 35°C.
  5. The clearance between the impeller assembly and the front and rear guard plates should be kept equal, with a difference of no more than 2–4 mm.
  6. The impeller should fit tightly against the coupling plate and be secured evenly with screws.
  7. During installation, maintain consistent clearance between the directional sleeve and distribution wheel. This reduces friction between the distribution wheel and abrasive media, prevents damage to the directional sleeve, and ensures efficient shot blasting.
  8. When installing the blades, the weight difference among a set of eight blades should not exceed 5 g. For each symmetrical pair of blades, the weight difference should not exceed 3 g. Otherwise, the shot blasting wheel may experience excessive vibration and increased noise.
  9. The shot blasting wheel drive belt should be tensioned appropriately—neither too tight nor too loose.
